Getting Started
This guide walks you through installing Nettica, logging in, registering your device, purchasing a subscription, and enabling your first VPN.
Step 1 — Install the App
Download and install Nettica for your platform:
- iOS
- Android
- macOS
- Windows — download the installer from nettica.com and run it. The installer requires administrator rights; accept the UAC prompt when it appears.
On Windows, Nettica must run as Administrator to manage WireGuard tunnels. If you launch it without elevation the app will automatically restart requesting the required privileges.
Step 2 — First Launch, Login, and Device Registration
When you open Nettica for the first time, the main screen appears with an empty VPN list. Tap on the "login" action button at the bottom-right corner. Logging in automatically creates this device.
If an administrator has given you an EZ Code, enter it in the EZ Code field in Settings and tap Save. This registers the device and joins it to a pre-configured network in one step without requiring authentication.
You do not need to be logged in to enable or disable a VPN, refresh your configuration, or delete a VPN entry. Login is only required to make changes such as creating networks, managing devices, or purchasing a subscription.
Step 3 — Purchase a Subscription
A subscription gives your account credits that are used to activate services (relay, tunnel, and other managed endpoints). A free tier is available with substantial capabilities; paid plans unlock tunnel and relay services for more performance and reliability.
Opening the Subscriptions screen
Tap the menu icon and choose Subscriptions
Choosing a plan
The screen lists available plans with their pricing and included features. Plans are available as monthly or yearly subscriptions — the yearly option provides two months free. Tap a plan card to see its full details.
- Core — plan covering core features
- Premium — additional tunnels, relays, devices and networks
- Professional — In the Wild service, highest limits, suitable for teams
Completing the purchase
- Tap the price on the plan you want.
- Confirm payment through the App Store, Google Play, or the Nettica website, depending on your platform.
- Once the transaction completes the app contacts the server to activate your credits. A confirmation snackbar appears at the bottom of the screen.
Purchases are tied to the Apple ID or Google account you use to complete the transaction. Your login to Nettica can be a different account, but we recommend using the same account for both to avoid confusion. Make sure you are signed in with the appropriate account before purchasing. On Windows and Linux, purchases are managed through nettica.com rather than a platform store.
Restoring a previous purchase
If you reinstalled the app or switched to a new device, launch the app to automatically restore purchases. You can also tap Restore Purchases from the About page.
Simply logging in to Nettica with the same account used for the purchase will restore your credits. In fact it will restore your entire account state, including networks, devices, and services.
Step 4 — Creating a VPN
Tap on the Wizards button on the bottom right of the app. Choose "Configure VPN" from the list of available wizards. Select a location and notice everything auto-fills. However feel free to adjust settings as desired. Click "add" or "update" to save your configuration.
- If you were invited by an administrator — they will have added your device to a network already, or will send you an EZ Code (see Step 2). Pull down on the main screen to refresh and the network will appear.
- If you are creating your own network — open Networks from the menu, tap add network, fill in a name and optional description, then tap add. See the Networks help page for more details.
Step 5 — Enable Your VPN
Once a network appears on the main screen:
- Tap the toggle to enable the VPN. The app builds a WireGuard configuration and starts the tunnel. On mobile, your device may prompt you to allow a VPN connection — tap Allow.
- The toggle turns green and the VPN entry shows the connected state. Only one VPN may be active at a time. If for some reason the VPN connection fails, simply tap the toggle again to retry.
To verify the tunnel is carrying your traffic, open connection status from the menu. Your public IP should match the VPN server's address rather than your ISP's address.
What's Next
Now that you are connected, explore the rest of the app:
- Networks — create and manage your overlay networks.
- Devices — see all devices on your account and their network memberships.
- Services — add relay or tunnel services to route traffic through a Nettica-managed exit point.
- Wizards — step-by-step guides for common setup tasks.
- VPN Settings — fine-tune the WireGuard configuration for devices.
