Settings
The Settings screen configures how this device registers with Nettica and controls platform-specific options such as push notifications. Changes here affect only this device — they do not alter networks, services, or other users' devices.
Open Settings in the Nettica app →
Friendly Name
The human-readable label for this device shown to you and other account members
in the Devices and Networks screens. It is also used as the base hostname when you
join a network (the full DNS name becomes name.networkname). You can
change this at any time; tap Save for the change to take effect.
Description
A free-text note about this device — for example, "Work laptop" or "Home router".
Server
The Nettica API server this device talks to. The default is https://my.nettica.com. Change this only if you are running a private Nettica server instance.
Changing the server URL logs you out immediately. You will need to sign in again with credentials valid for the new server before the app can sync your networks.
EZ Code
An easy-entry code used to register a new device without going through the full login flow. This field appears only when the device has not yet been registered with the server. Once the device is registered the field is hidden.
Device ID
A read-only unique identifier assigned to this device by the Nettica server after registration. Useful for support requests or diagnosing duplicate-device issues.
API Key
A read-only secret key the app uses to authenticate API calls for this device. The value is masked by default. Treat it like a password — do not share it.
Push Notifications (Mobile)
Toggle Enable push notifications on to allow the server to wake this device when a network configuration changes. On Android, this partially controls incoming call notifications for text/video calls. The app requests permission from the operating system the first time you enable this.
If you toggle it on but the system permission has been denied, the app shows a dialog explaining that notifications are disabled at the OS level. Tap System Settings in that dialog to go directly to the app's notification settings where you can grant the permission.
Push notifications are not available on Windows or Linux. The toggle is hidden on those platforms.
Full-Screen Call Notifications (Android)
When push notifications are enabled on Android, a second toggle appears: Full-screen call notifications. This controls whether incoming Nettica calls appear as a full-screen overlay on the lock screen, similar to a regular phone call.
Tapping the toggle opens the Android Special App Access settings where you can grant or revoke the Full-Screen Notification permission. Without it, incoming calls arrive as a standard notification banner that may be missed while the phone is locked.
Saving Settings
Tap Save to write your changes to the server and the local device storage. A spinner appears while the save is in progress. Tap Cancel to discard any unsaved edits and go back.
Deleting This Device
Tap the Delete button to remove this device from Nettica. A confirmation dialog appears with two optional checkboxes:
- Delete device from server — removes this device's registration from the Nettica server. All VPN configurations for this device are revoked across every network.
- Delete account from server — only available when the device-from-server option is also checked. Permanently deletes your entire Nettica account. This requires that all devices, networks, and services have already been removed from the account.
If neither option is selected, only the local device configuration data is deleted. Launching the app again and logging in will restore the device's configuration from the server, including all networks and VPNs.
After confirming, the app disconnects any active VPNs, logs you out, deletes all local configuration, and exits.
Deleting the device disconnects all running VPNs immediately and exits the app. If you also delete the account, all your networks, services, and subscriptions are permanently removed and cannot be recovered.
